Eventually, if you ride enough, you are bound to run into construction. George got blamed for this road |
Once past the construction we found the Teddy bear Factory |
You never know what you will find on the roadside in Vermont |
Supper across the road from the hotel at Mogul's for smoked ribs and chicken. No driving needed! |
We even got to chat with the owner. He gave us all tee-shirts |
|
Allen lead a ride and guess what... MORE construction |
We visited the birth place of Calvin Coolidge |
The Coolidge homestead took you back in time |
What ride is complete without lunch |
Friday the Red Knights went to Rutland fire to line up for the parade |
|
From Rutland fire we all were escorted back to the mountain for the official line-up |
We waited |
And waited |
And finally started the 12 mile parade into Rutland |
Coming into down town Rutland |
|
Once we passed under the flag we parked on main street and enjoyed the music |
These guys looked and sounded JUST like the real thing! |
George got to meet Vermont governor Jim Douglas |
Saturday we went on the memorial ride for Ray Davidson.
The saying goes: "If you wear fire boots in Vermont Ray taught you how to do the work you do while wearing them" |
We rode through the mountains and over switch-backs |
|
AND we rode through MORE construction |
This was Rays gear |
After the ride we stopped at Vergennes fire for a cook-out. Al Holmes was tired I guess. It looks like he took a quick nap. Then IT RAINED!!! |
Crossing Quchee Gorge on the way home |
Two Vermont bears waving good-by |
